About: Jimmy O'Hare is one of Australia's most exciting young guitarists, constantly producing music that stuns audiences with his ability to conjure so many sounds from a single guitar. His gripping performances have seen him take to the stage at many festivals and venues across Australia.
Jimmy grew up in Gisborne, VIC, living a life that revolved around music and playing football. After finishing high school, music took priority as he moved to Melbourne to study contemporary guitar at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (MCM); studying during the week and performing on weekends as a soloist and in various bands and collaborations. Jimmy graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in 2018.
His performances are renowned for his dynamic presence and control of the guitar through two-hand tapping, percussion and altered tunings which drives his powerful yet delicate sound. Jimmy's solo compositions draw influence from the greatest exponents of the percussive fingerstyle genre like Andy McKee, Michael Hedges & Tommy Emmanuel.
In 2013 his family founded the Macedon Ranges Music Festival, an annual event raising money for the Cambodian Kids Foundation and Jimmy has been the director of the festival since 2015.
