About: Atlanta Coogan & The Back to Black Band present "The Amy Winehouse Show"
She was one of the brightest stars the music world had seen in decades. In 2003, a young British singer called Amy Winehouse upended everything when it came to modern day soul, blues, and gospel music. Her voice was astonishing – rich with feeling, rawness, and vibrato. Her sass and bravado and her vulnerability and pain were on equal show for all to see. Honest, raw, supremely gifted, it was immediately apparent Winehouse was truly special. Amy harked back to the most classic of sounds but delivered them with a modern twist. Although she only released 2 studio albums (‘Frank’ and ‘Back To Black’) before her death in 2011, songs like ‘Love Is A Losing Game’, ‘Rehab’, ‘Pumps’, ‘Valerie’ and ‘Stronger Than Me’ ensure Winehouse’s legacy will live on.
Both the life and songs of Amy are brilliantly celebrated in The Amy Whitehouse Show. Atlanta Coogan, one of Australia’s finest and most versatile vocalists, along with her handpicked ‘Back To Black Band’ and a stellar horn section, take audiences on a lovingly curated musical journey through Amy’s life. Coogan, known for her work with the Black Sorrows and Bjorn Again, channels Winehouse brilliantly – complete with costumes, moves and of course, that iconic hairdo. The show, full of love, hilarity and intimacy, features all of Amy’s hits including ‘Back To Back’ and ‘Rehab’, Zutons’ ‘Valerie’ and Carole King’s ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’ and has enjoyed sell-out performances including at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, and enthusiastic audiences wherever they have performed.
